A European diary of disillusion?

ANOTHER week, another set of lessons on the uncomfortable realities of Britain's relations with the EU. Day after day, there have been developments that should give pause even to the most starry-eyed europhile....Consider what can fairly be described as a diary of disillusion....SUNDAY: Ireland votes Yes to the Treaty of Nice, a result hailed by pro-Europeans as a triumph, paving the way for 10 new nations to join the EU....But the truth is that Ireland, like Denmark before it, was bullied and browbeaten into a second referendum, after giving the 'wrong' answer - No - first time round....Such are the ways of democracy, EU-style. Voters can reach any decision they like, so long as it is the one approved by Brussels.
