God's Banker Was Murdered!

That's the headline in an article in Spanish newspaper, El Pais - the links don't work and will dissappear in a bit, hence no link.

For those of you who don't know who God's Banker is, or more accurately stated, was, we're speaking here of Roberto Calvi, the Italian head of Banco Ambrosiana, who was found dead around 20-years ago, hanging underneath the Black Friars bridge in London. At the time, the police said that Calvi, involved in financial scandals with the Church, the P2 and Mafia, committed suicide. His family never accepted that version.

Well, Calvi's family was able to get the case reopened in 1998, and his body exhumed. Don't ask me why it's taken them four years to make the decision now that, hey, it wasn't suicide, it was murder!

The decision was based on the "stunning" fact that his backbone didn't show the distress, that it should have (read if he had hung himself the bricks in his coat should have jerked his body).

Now the question is, "who killed Calvi?" Sounds like one for the conspiracy buffs.
